Access
to Networked CD Titles
Inside
the libraries: Currently the library provides access to the networked
CD titles in library buildings. We also provide access to many
of the CD titles outside the
library facilities. Outside
the libraries: Users require only a Java-compatible
Web-browser to access the Library's networked CDs outside the Library.
The Citrix Java client manages your connection to the Library's Citrix
MetaFrame server and allows the databases to run remotely. The Java Client
requires no local client installation. Setup is transparent and automatic.
If you are accessing these titles and are not on the Northwestern network
you will be authenticated via the University's Virtual Private Network
(VPN) service. VPN allows authorized users to access restricted
resources without installing additional software or configurating your
web browser.
Once you have authenticated you can access these databases directly through
the ER site or from the list of available networked CDs.
Access
to Standalone (non-networked) CD titles
These CDs are available only within
a particular library department on workstations. See the location code
in NUcat or the Electronic
Resources site for the departmental location of a specific CD.
Ask at the Reference Desk in that department and you will be directed
to a workstation where you can use the CD.
